Major Rides

MAJOR RIDES supported by Echelon Riders Club are set out below in a convenient list.  If you have your own favorite ride and it is not here, please let us know!  Other rides we know about but which have not made it to our "supported" list are shown on our Calendar Tab.  Rides in 2012 have filled up more quickly than ever, so please calendar to register on-line as soon as each ride's registration opens up or you may miss out on the more popular rides.  For more details please go to the "Calendar:Training Rides" tab above and scroll over the event.




14        10:00 A.M. Registration opens for the Death Ride to be held on Saturday July 14. $120 single plus $8.80 Fee.  3,000 entries only.  SOLD OUT as expected within 2 weeks.


9        Registration open for Wine Valley Cycle For Sight to be held on Saturday April 20thin Napa.


1          Wine Country Century Registration opens AT Midnight for the ride on Saturday May 4th .  2,500 riders.  SOLD OUT in 2011 in 36 hours. In 2012 sold out in only 14 hours!  Yikes. 2013 SOLD OUT in 12 hours.


Registration to open for the TOUR DE MARIN to be held on the last day of the Tour of California, Sunday May 26thYes our very own tour right here in Marin on the last day of the Tour of California.  45 miles.  Only $40.  First 250 get a Tour de Marin T-Shirt!  Capped at 400 riders.  Supports MCBC.  This will sell out!


20         Saturday   MAJOR RIDE:  Wine Valley Cycle for Sight.  Ride in Napa with a 15, 25 or 50 mile route the last one enjoying 1,700 feet of climbing up Mount Veeder.  Justin Siena High School, 4026 Maher Street, Napa.  8:00 a.m. start.


3         Saturday         MAJOR RIDE:  Wine Country Century by Santa Rosa Cycling Club.  SOLD OUT.  35, 100 Miles and 100 kms (60 miles) and 200 kilometres (124 miles).Wells Fargo Center for the Arts, 3 miles north of Santa Rosa.  Registration opens February each year.

10        Saturday           MAJOR RIDE:   Echelon Gran Fondo in Sonoma. 11, 50 or 75 miles.    Details at    

13-20              Tour of California.

25    Sunday TOUR DE MARIN.  Yes our very own tour right here in Marin on the last day of the Tour of California.  45 miles.  $40.  Capped at 400 riders.  This will sell out! 9:00 a.m. from Whole Foods, San Rafael.

31        Must register by now for Healdsburg Harvest Century to be held on Saturday July 19th. $75 includes lunch and T-Shirt.


No Major Rides in June.


June 30th to July 22nd       Tour de France.  (France).

14        Saturday       MAJOR RIDE:   DEATH RIDE!     SOLD OUT.  Turtle Rock Park on Hwy 89 2 miles north of Markleville.  Limited to 3,000 hardy souls this is a climbers paradise!  Loads of rest stops and food after the ride, this is the ultimate challenge!  Packet pick up in person Friday 13th!  Check in 4 – 6 a.m. Saturday

19        Saturday          MAJOR RIDE:  Healdsburg Harvest Century Metric Century (60 miles) by Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce. (Healdsburg High School, 1024 Prince Street, Healdsburg).


2         Saturday          MAJOR RIDE:  Marin Century by Marin Cyclists.  30, 60, 109 or 200 miles.  200 kms (120 miles) plus Mt. Tam Century of 95 miles. (Vallecito School Nova Albion Way, Terra Linda, Marin).  Sells out every year.

16        Saturday          MAJOR RIDE:  Holstein 100.  (Petaluma High School).  Benefits West Marin Senior Services.

17        Sunday            MAJOR RIDE:  37th Annual Tour of Napa by Eagle Cycling Club. 30, 65 or 100 miles (Napa).  Put on by our friends from Napa's Eagle Cycling Club this is a well supported ride being one of the few major rides on a Sunday.
